Sup, I am Adrianna and I know a little something on medieval Africa. Africa is the second largest continent. It has very different cultures and people in it. It also, has many different cities. There are over a thousand cities in Africa so, I did some research on the cities in Mali. I also have some awesome research on celebrations people in Ghana had. So check it out!!!!

Cities of Mali

Mali's Medieval Cities

About six hundred years ago, two cities named Timbuktu and Djenne were very mighty. From West Africa to the Mediterranean gold, ivory, and salt was transported by merchants to both the cities. All of that brought them inestimable wealth. By the sixteenth century, these cities had become legendary and represented all of the exotic wealth of Africa.

All of that changed, Timbuktu and Djenne faded and fell. As time passed, travelers saw these medieval cities much differently then they would have back then. Timbuktu today, retains a little of is medieval structure and is still a rewarding destination. On the other hand, Djenne is still frozen in time with all the mud-brick houses and buildings disintegrated which happen five centuries ago.

Celebrations of Ghana

Ghana's Krada

Well almost every culture has celebrations. Ghana has a few celebrations that are celebrated all around the world just like their birthdays and their independence day.

So I like celebrating my birthday. I like to get gifts, I like eating the cake, and I like become a year older but my favorite part is hanging out with my friends. They also like to do that except a little differently. Well when we become a year older it is called birthday but when the people in Ghana turn a year older they call it krada which means Soul Day. On their krada a person will wake up to a treat called oto. Oto is a patty made from mashed sweet potato and eggs and is fried in palm oil. In the afternoon family and friends would feast in honor of the that person. The background of the celebration would usually be covered in white clothing. There they would celebrated the krada.

Ghana's Independence Day

March 6,1957 was the day when Ghana won it independence. It is extually the first black African country to gain its independence. That is something that I never knew.
